With high-quality human resources who are artisans and families with a tradition of ornamental fish farming, Ho Chi Minh City is considered the center of Vietnam's ornamental fish export activities. By the end of October 2015, the number of ornamental fish exported by Ho Chi Minh City has reached more than 11 million, with an export value of 9.7 million USD.

However, according to experts, the production scale of ornamental fishery is still scattered and small, not having much access to new science on ornamental fish breeding, domestication and reproduction of natural ornamental fish. In addition, limited financial capacity also greatly affects investment and development of Vietnam's ornamental fish industry.

According to Mr. Tran Dinh Vinh - Director of the Sub-Department of Quality Management and Protection of Fisheries Resources in Ho Chi Minh City, if there is an open condition on technical factors, it will solve the institutional problems of the market. Vietnam will deeply integrate into the world ornamental fish market.

According to the Vietnam Fisheries Association, our country can develop the ornamental fish industry more, increasing the annual export turnover to 40-50 million USD instead of only 10-12 million USD/year as at present.
