DANIO

Danio fish is a group of small minnow-type fish belonging to the Cyprinidae family. They are primarily native to the fresh waters of South and Southeast Asia.

Maintenace:

Danio fish are a very hardy and social species making them the perfect fish for any beginner aquarist. Although very hyperactive, they can still be housed in a small tank. However, they still prefer bigger tanks to have more space for swimming and exploration. Danio fish require a good filtration system and small portion of water change every week.

Water conditions:

Danio fish from ThienDuc Aquarium accommodate well to tap water, after chlorine treatment.

Range of pH: 6.5 – 8.0

Water temperature: appx 26˚C – 28˚C

Diet:

Danio fish eat all kinds of live and frozen foods and also vegetables. Optimal feeding method for danio fish is feeding them small portions a few times in a day which they are able to consume within 3 minutes. Do not overfeed or leave food leftover in the tank, as it causes ammonia and nitrite and becomes toxic.

Behaviour:

Danio fish is a social and peaceful fish. Playful in nature, they can often be seen chasing each other around the tank.

Keeping them in large shoal can have drastic effects on their behaviour, causing them to become hyperactive in the aquarium. They can be seen occupying all levels of the aquarium but spend time predominantly in the middle to upper layers of the tank.
